I Thought I Was the Problem

For over a decade my fitness, wellness and nutrition routines became so ingrained in me that if I didn't start my day with a workout in the morning, my entire day would be off. Not in an unhealthy way, but my morning workout is my energy source. My focus, energy, and mood all improve significantly on days that I start with a workout. This lifestyle worked for me, and so I stuck with it for years.
But almost 3 years ago, those routines all stopped, despite it being a huge part of my identity. For those few years, I thought I lacked discipline, that I couldn’t stay consistent, and that something about me was broken. I would start strong and fall off a few days later, or feel completely exhausted for no clear reason and skip everything I had planned. It became a pattern that kept repeating, and every time it did, it reinforced the same belief that I was the problem.
What I didn’t understand at the time was that I wasn’t lacking discipline. I was running on a completely dysregulated system. I was living in an environment where my body had been in a constant state of stress, always on edge, always anticipating, always trying to keep up or hold things together. And when you live like that for long enough, it doesn’t just go away when you decide you want to feel better.
It starts to affect everything. Your energy, your focus, your ability to follow through, and your ability to feel normal. So while I thought I was just being inconsistent or unmotivated, my body was actually overwhelmed. I was trying to show up at a high level, one that I've never had a problem maintaining for years, while living in survival mode.
What I Started Doing Differently
Once I started to understand that, everything began to shift. I stopped blaming myself and started supporting myself in a different way. Instead of trying to push harder, I focused on calming my system and creating stability in my daily life. This phase is really difficult mentally if you're ready cognitively for the next chapter, but your body is still recovering. You need to listen to your body and rest.
After months of inevitably giving my body proper rest, I rebuilt my lifestyle with more intention, focusing on nutrition that actually supported my body. High-protein plant-based meals to bring back my energy. Somatic therapy for healing from trauma.
Meditation and yoga for alignment. I'm prioritizing staying hydrated. Practicing daily gratitude. Manifesting and goal planning. And so many more practices that are helping me recover, and feel the best I've ever felt.

I created my routine knowing that relying on motivation would not be enough for me. I needed a plan that I could stick to, and methods that help me stay consistent on the many days that I could talk myself out of it.
I know how easy it is to think you’re the problem when you’re not showing up the way you want to. But sometimes it’s not about discipline at all.
Sometimes your body hasn’t felt supported for a long time, and no amount of forcing yourself is going to fix that. You don’t need to push harder. You need the right structure, the right habits, and the right support.
If you’ve been feeling stuck, inconsistent, or like nothing is really working, it might not be you. You might just not have the right support yet. And that’s exactly where I'd love to help.
