Food Is Not A Prop. Stop Using It Like One.

Using food as a disposable prop is tone-deaf on its own, but when it happens within the plant-based and vegan space, the hypocrisy is especially loud.

Veganism is inherently rooted in mindfulness, respect for resources, and reducing harm.

When creators utilize plant-based foods as cheap, disposable tools for engagement, it goes against the core philosophy of the movement.

At a certain point, the question stops being “is this creative?” and becomes

what exactly is being communicated here?' Because if the answer is just “this performs well,” then it starts to feel sad really quickly.

Especially in this era of time. The world is at war, people can't afford to put gas in their car, and groceries are at an all time high. Playing with your food in people's faces online shouldn't be idolized.

When food is used as a prop, especially in content that claims awareness around sustainability or food ethics, there’s a disconnect that’s hard to ignore.

And people might not always articulate why it feels off, but they can sense it. Something uncomfortable about seeing excess turned into entertainment while the creator behind it is trying to spread a message about reducing harm, and a sustainable lifestyle.

If the goal of plant-based content is to inspire cellular renewal, health, and alignment with nature, destruction has no place in it. Because once food becomes purely a tool for attention, it stops being about food at all. And that shift is always more visible than people think.
